A small Jaeger offer has too much colour but still offers some spot-on pieces for spring
Jaeger has a good product mix for its small area in department store Beales. From trenches and parkas to printed dresses, linen shirts and Chanel-inspired boxy jackets, there is plenty of product choice. Key pieces include a longer-length colour-blocked knit in tomato red, hot pink and black, a silk waterfall dress in pillarbox red and bright pink, and an abstract dot-print monochrome trench coat.
The full colour gamut of a larger store is covered here, which is great for choice but dilutes the clean feel which is the signature of a standalone Jaeger store. Small, discreet Sale signs stop the rails looking a mess, but the changing rooms are less impressive with stained curtains and a slightly strange set-up, with two ill-matched seats taking up space.
At the top end of the product price scale in Bournemouth, Jaeger’s macs come in at £199, linen shirts £99, long silk cover-up jackets at £175 and a sailor-stripe diamond-shaped knit dress is a pricey £175. Generally the quality of product, finishing, fabric and detail is worth a bit extra, but the eerie quiet pervading over the Jaeger area on a busy Saturday morning seems to suggest that product at this price struggles to tempt shoppers in this town.
