A good range of product in a calm setting with good service and some highly competitive prices
Jones Bootmaker has a mix of fashion and comfort styles, with Gabor highlighted in the window. Women’s loafers, heeled brogues and patent round-toe and pointed courts sit alongside Chelsea boots and knee-high boots. The men’s offer has some great fashion styles including vintage-effect lace-ups. A selection of brogues are entirely leather, including the sole.
Drapers was approached by an assistant offering help soon after entering the store in what is a clean, well-merchandised storefit. Fashion and comfort styles are displayed in the window and in-store signage informs the customer of whether styles are ‘leather lined’ or available in ‘multi-width fit’. The store was calm with mid-tempo music, and Drapers was directed to a seat on asking for a shoe, and offered an alternative because the chosen colour wasn’t available in the correct size.
A great opening price point for a staple leather-lined ballet pump at £49 rivals Kurt Geiger and Office’s best offers, even though Drapers expected Jones to be more expensive. Heeled brogues are £110 and leather-lined courts sit around the £75 mark, which is a good price for the quality. A leather patent court is a respectable £69. Men’s brogues range from £99 to £159 for a Goodyear-welted offer, which is great value.
