Leading design in a superior environment justifies premium price points
Most of the offer comes via the Carvela and KG sub-brands with a smattering of the higher priced Kurt Geiger and Fashionistas ranges. Carvela delivers unbeatable styling this season with the most authentic range of biker boots on the high street while KG works the sequined, jewelled and stud trends.
Fashionistas provides the most fashion-forward styles at Bluewater with peep-toe and wedge-heel boots, while the Kurt Geiger range has the best designed stiletto courts.
This vast open-fronted store with mirrored cube wall makes a massive statement against the bog-standard white box shopfronts on the upper level of the mall, making this an aspirational place to shop. Sub-brands are more clearly defined in sections of the store than in previous seasons and staff approach all the shoppers that enter the shop -something that has been missing from the Kurt Geiger experience in previous Hit or Miss reports.
Generally the design input justifies the prices here - there are no cases of repeat styles seen in the middle market but there are instances where price is over-egged. Black suede zip-front peep boots with a step-in heel and platform are good value at £130, but Carvela over-the-knee platform boots with stud details feel pricey at £300 - this feels more like the Kurt Geiger brand price territory. Fashionistas sandals made in Brazil are an acceptable £220 for their exclusive appeal.
