Good signature styles, though eveningwear shoes are a letdown. Attentive service
With an emphasis on quality, LK Bennett has covered seasonal favourites such as the court, kitten heel and knee-high boot with updated colours and fabrics. The staples should not be underestimated and LK Bennett has honed its signature styles well. The leopard-print ponyskin was the most eye-catching in a pointed kitten heel, very relevant for the season but still with a classic edge. The eveningwear shoes let the aesthetic down, clashing with the more rounded day-to-night range.
As expected from a higher-end store, Drapers was welcomed on entering and approached for assistance when browsing the footwear. The assistant was attentive, making conversation – “Is this your first time to Westfield?” – which created an immediate dialogue with the customer. Drapers was also advised of a resoling service at the store. The store itself is light and clean but more could be done to add interest to the visual displays, which lack the wow factor of other stores at Westfield Stratford.
Patent leather courts range from £160 to £175, which is at the top end seen by Drapers during this Hit or Miss survey. However, this does reflect the all-leather construction including inner, outer and sole unit, with some shoes also protected with a thin rubber sole. The quality and finish matches the upper-end price tag and with some of the more trend-led product, such as the leopard-print kitten heels at £175, there is enough mileage in the style to tempt the core customer to spend.
