A great mix of directional and commercial looks well targeted at the younger shopper.
Its glam rock chick look has been paramount in differentiating Miss Selfridge from other young fashion players. This season offers loads of great denim interpretations, from stonewashed grey denim waistcoats with military buttons to denim pinafore dresses and acid-washed jackets with sharp pagoda shoulders. Other strong pieces include slashed prom dresses, jersey and floral print waistcoats, sheer beaded shrugs and woollen coats with puff shoulders.
The windows are great in this store, with one showcasing all the denim options. The sizing is slightly odd, with an abundance of styles in a size four. Staff are less attentive than in Oasis
and Warehouse, which is disappointing, as the store is no bigger than its rivals’ and shopper experience would benefit from more customer contact.
Prices span a fairly narrow range, and basics are not a particular focus so there is little for under £25. However, price tags rarely stray above the £70 mark. A studded silk jumpsuit is great at £40 and a long mohair mix cardigan good value at £35. Outerwear starts at £55 for a red duffle coat and goes up to £70 for a teal wool-mix cocoon style.
