A round-up of Marks & Spencer’s bestsellers.
The retailer today reported a 7.8% rise in clothing sales for the 13 weeks to October 2, with strong sales of school uniforms and a record season for footwear. Here’s a selection of the retailer’s most popular items.
Autumn TV ad: M&S said clothes and accessories featured in its autumn TV ad have been a great hit with customers. Popular items include the Limited Collection coat as worn by Dannii Minogue, and the Autograph military coat modelled by Lisa Snowdon. M&S has sold 2,000 of these each week since the adverts aired. It has sold 20,000 of the macs worn by all the models in the ads, up 180% on last year.
2 Sizes Bigger Push-Up Bra: Over 1,000 of the bras, which creates the illusion of adding two cup sizes to cleavages, have been sold every week. Last week the retailer introduced three new colourways and the retailer is now selling one every three minutes.
Collezione Linen Miracle Easy Iron Suit: The retailer sold 44,000 Linen Miracle jackets and trousers over the quarter, up 32% on last year.
Dresses: M&S has introduced more styles, colours and fabrics to its dress ranges, offering 359 dresses over the quarter, up 40%. It sold over 600,000 dresses over the quarter, with sales up 41%. Its Portfolio dress, as worn by Twiggy in the TV advert has been a bestseller.
Boots: The retailer has enjoyed a record autumn for footwear, with over 1.42 million pieces of footwear sold this quarter compared to 1.25 million last year. This quarter has been its best ever for boot sales. It introduced over 50%more style options, with over 332,000 pairs of boots sold, up 50% compared to last year. Its fastest selling boot has been the black patent riding boot, with more than 4,000 pairs sold this quarter.
