Agent Provocateur chairman Kim Winser is in talks with potential franchise partners in Japan and South America to accelerate the lingerie retailer’s international expansion.
Winser, who previously ran luxury brands Aquascutum and Pringle, began advising the premium lingerie retailer in March.
Agent Provocateur chief executive Garry Hogarth said: “Kim has a lot of international experience and is sourcing partners in countries where it is more difficult for us to work.”
He added: “She is also advising on marketing and making the business more edgy but also taking it back
to empowerment of women because that message had slipped “
Agent Provocateur, which has 47 stores and concessions worldwide, plans to open 10 stores in the next year, including a ninth UK stand-alone and a sixth franchise store in Moscow. The remainder will be in the US and Asia.
The retailer opened its first store in South Korean capital Seoul this year and is due to open two more in the city followed by a store in Hong Kong, before looking to Malaysia and Japan. It also has nine US stores and is in negotiations for two more.
