Argos to launch licensed clothing for autumn 11

Argos has confirmed that it will launch a clothing range for the first time in autumn 11.

The catalogue group, which today announced its full year results, said that it would leverage its toy licence relationships to launch 600 clothing and gift lines in the catalogue.

They will be stocked in larger stores for collection in time for the autumn 11 season.

In October, Drapers revealed that Argos had approached buyers at etailer Asos, young fashion chain USC and department store business House of Fraser about launching a fashion offer.

Argos suffered an 18% decline in operating profits to £219m on sales down 3.5% to £4.19bn in the year to February 26. Like-for-likes fell 5.6% in the year.
