Aurora backs new Tonia Bastyan brand

Tonia Bastyan, one half of 1990s British womenswear design duo Press & Bastyan, has launched a new concession business for spring 10.

Contemporary womenswear label Bastyan will debut in Irish department store Brown Thomas next week and House of Fraser on London’s Oxford Street the following week. It will open about seven House of Fraser concessions for spring 10.

The range comprises day-to-night pieces and includes draping in muted colours paired with sharp tailoring and fluid dresses. Retail prices range from £60 to £350.

The label is supported by Aurora Fashions, which operates chains Oasis, Coast, Karen Millen and Warehouse. The details of the financial arrangement between Aurora and Bastyan remain unclear.

In the 1990s, Aurora’s Karen Millen chain bought Press & Bastyan, which traded from 15 stores and various concessions for eight years.
