Bluewater to debut midnight trading

Kent shopping centre Bluewater has extended trading to midnight for the first time this Christmas.

Around 20 retailers including Boux Avenue, All Saints, Schuh and Gap will open until midnight on December 23 in anticipation of a last minute surge of Christmas shoppers.

The move comes after data captured from Bluewater’s new mobile optimised site showed a 43% increase in users searching for information on stores’ evening opening hours from the four weeks from November 11 compared with the previous four weeks.

Bluewater general manager Robert Goodman said the move to midnight trading and increase in online search “reflect the changing ways consumers shop and access information.”
