Burberry paid Angela Ahrendts, who has been at the helm of the luxury British heritage brand and retailer for four years, a bonus of £1.82m in the year to March 31 2010. This was the maximum allowance of 200% of her £910,000 salary.

In the previous year, Ahrendts earned £1.89m and was not awarded an annual bonus, although she did receive a personal achievement bonus of £522,000.

Stacey Cartwright received a bonus of £780,000 in the year to March 31, which was 150% of her £520,000 salary. In the previous year she had received no bonuses or salary increases.

The payments follow a strong full-year performance at Burberry, which saw pre-tax profits before exceptional items soar 23% to £215m. Burberry’s turnover for the period was up 7% to £1.3m.

Burberry’s share price increased 131% during the year and added £2bn to the company’s market capitalisation.
