Clothing and footwear sales jump in November

Clothing and footwear sales rose 9.1% by value and 6.8% by volume in November compared to the same month last year.

The performance helped to drive overall retail sales which rose 3.6% by value and 1.8% by volume during the month.

The rise in sales, as recorded by the Office for National Statistics, was also reflected in non-store retailing where sales rose 6.4% by value and 7.1%. Internet sales now account for 10.5% of retail sales, compared to 7.9% last November, the ONS said.
