Women’s young fashion chain Jane Norman is shutting its London head office at Christmas, with the remaining members of staff being relocated to Cardiff or taking redundancy after the holidays.
In September, Drapers revealed Jane Norman would shut the London office and relocate to value chain Peacocks’ HQ in Cardiff. Both retailers are owned by Edinburgh Woollen Mill (EWM).
At the time, no official date was given for the London office’s closure, but an EWM spokesman has now said it will remain open until Christmas. However, he would not say how many staff will be employed there until then.
An “undisclosed number” of staff from the London office will make the move to Cardiff, but those who do not make the move face redundancy. A total of 40 people will be affected.
“We have a full team of people in place to run Jane Norman at Peacocks [office],” he said. “But I can’t give you exact figures relating to how many people are staying on and how many are leaving.”
Meanwhile, Jane Norman will open a new store in Waterford, Republic of Ireland, at the end of this month.
