Fashion sales at John Lewis continued to rise last week, albeit at a slower rate to the previous week as womenswear excelled.
Fashion sales rose 6% in the week to October 20, a slow in growth compared to a 12.7% rise last week. Womenswear was the strongest performer with sales increasing 11.3% on the back of some strong trade in the John Lewis Collections.
Online trade for the week increased by 31% on the previous year with the best fo the results coming from fashion at 39%.
Overall sales at John Lewis rose 7%.
Maggie Porteous, head of selling operations, new format at John Lewis said: “A combination of milder weather and slightly tougher figures against us meant that last week’s sales increase of 7% on last year was lower than our run rate.”
John Lewis stores displayed mixed results with 16% achieving growth and Swindon with an 8.8% rise leading the way followed by Sheffield at 5.6%.
