French Connection expects profits to soar despite sales dip

French Connection, the men’s and womenswear chain, said it expected its full year profits to soar due to a strong wholesale and licensing performance and cost control.

French Connection said it expected profits before tax of its continuing operation for the year ending January 31 to reach at least £6.8m, up from £1m in the last financial year.

It said its UK retail division was performing in line with its last update when it said like-for-like sales were down 6.1% across the UK and Europe from August 1 to November 13.

French Connection said it would announce its full year results on March 16.
