French Connection sales increase 3%

Young fashion brand French Connection this week said UK and European like-for-like retail sales rose 3% in the six months to July 31, with dresses strong sellers and trousers and skirts performing well.

Chairman Stephen Marks said a pre-tax profit of £200,000 - a swing from a £5.4m loss on the same period last year - showed the business was “back on track”.Wholesale sales rose 9% during the period.

The retailer has also struck a US licensing deal with Li & Fung for a young fashion range which will be sold in Sears department stores. The deal is expected to generate income of £1.5m annually.
