French Connection has reported a like-for-like rise in sales with the performance across its UK retail business improving.
In the 16 weeks to November 20 like-for-like sales rose 2.1% despite lower levels of clearance activity during the early part of the period.
The retailer said it was “encouraged” by the reaction to its autumn 13 collection, which is the first range from its new design team.
During the period UK/European wholesale revenue was in line with the same period last year, which was an improvement on the downward trend it has seen over recent seasons. The order book for spring 14 is also slightly ahead of this time last year.
In its interim management statement French Connection said: “Whilst the group continues to make good progress the full year results will as ever be dependent upon the performance over the key Christmas trading period.”
