Hemingway mines Hush Puppies’ past

Hush Puppies will unveil its first British heritage men’s footwear collection for autumn 12 in collaboration with Hemingway Design.

The Hemingway Design team – which includes Red or Dead founders Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway – has created fresh interpretations of signature Hush Puppies styles from an archive spanning the brand’s 50-year history.

The collection – Hemingway Design for Hush Puppies – will go into stores in September with eight styles of men’s brogues, desert and Chelsea boots in combinations of pigskin and suede with crêpe, gum, stacked and coloured soles.

Wholesale prices range from £53 to £60 and retail prices start at £110 and go up to £125.

Speaking about the collection, Hemingway Design’s senior designer Jack Hemingway, who spearheaded the partnership, said Hush Puppies’ authentic appeal with subcultures made it a good match for Hemingway’s affinity with vintage trends.
