Cos autumn 15
Premium - Westfield Stratford, ground floor
Cos is good for modern, fashion-led updates to basic shapes, such as simple shirts with interesting details or unusual neck lines. These elevated designs, alongside some quality or quirky fabric choices, often justify slightly higher price points, bringing it just into the premium bracket. Items like a thick cotton T-shirt with contrasting colour panels (£17), a jumper in textured wool (£45) and a pared-back, nicely tailored take on the season’s key camel Crombie (£175) balance price and quality with a signature Cos quirk. Customer service was decent with helpful changing room staff.
While the window displays are in keeping with the retailer’s minimal approach, they are bare and rather uninspiring. As mentioned in previous surveys, almost every item is hung on side-by-side rails – this is annoying as you physically have to look through every hanger, which is made worse by the packed rails. The design tweaks and small quirks of many items are lost when displayed in this way.
