High Street Hit or Miss: Dune 7/10

Dune autumn 15

Dune autumn 15

Dune autumn 15

Footwear specialist - Westfield Stratford, First floor

Pros

Dune has a 20% off all styles promotion on the day Drapers visits, which is working well to bring shoppers into the store. It is light and airy with lots of floor space and wide leather-topped benches in the middle, as well as mirrors at the sides to help customers when trying shoes on. At £155, a pair of black suede fringed over-the-knee boots is more than £50 more expensive than similar pairs at River Island and Schuh, but they feel softer and look a touch classier than the cheaper equivalents. Basic loafers start at £35, rising to £110 for a smart leather pair with tassel detail, so you can buy into the trend at various budgets. Men’s collections are given just less than a third of the space, well located at the front left-hand side of the store. Staff are attentive and friendly.

Cons

Quite a lot of styles do not have the material information on the soles or inside as you would expect, but staff are on hand to answer questions. There are no prices in the windows.
