H&M autumn 15
Clothing multiple - Westfield Stratford, first floor
H&M is a mixed bag in terms of product, price and styling. A pair of women’s black suede boots with a leather mock-croc effect heel at £49.99 feels like good value, but this is set against a flimsier pair of PU-heeled court shoes priced at £29.99 that seemed on a par with Primark’s courts at £10. The menswear department is similarly varied with boot styles starting at £39.99 and patent creepers at £39.99, which, while executed quite well, will not be to everyone’s taste.
When I check online there is a much broader range than in store, including a pair of fake suede court shoes with round wooden heels that look much more than their £24.99 price tag. H&M could also do more to play up its premium materials, such as leather and suede. There is not much room to try on in either department and it is difficult to find an assistant to check for another size. It feels as though the footwear department lags behind the strength of H&M’s clothing offer in this particular store.
