High Street Hit or Miss: Office 6/10

Footwear specialist - Westfield Stratford, Ground floor

Office is offering 20% off selected lines in the window for Halloween, as well as full-priced men’s and women’s product in separate windows. The store feels light and airy despite there being lots of product on each fixture, thanks to a lot of white floor space. The retailer is promoting exclusives with Converse and Puma, which gives the store a point of difference, and the Liquid Gold, Silver and Rose Gold Converse low- and high-tops, priced at £54.99 and £59.99 respectively, are gaining a lot of attention in store with customers. The music and plenty of lunchtime shoppers give the store a buzzy atmosphere, and many of the seats to try shoes on are taken.

Staff are busy, so no one greets me or offers help. Office’s own-brand product feels a bit more expensive than its competitors – for example, a fairly standard women’s Chelsea boot at £72 compares with River Island’s, which has gold detail on the sole, at £65.
