High Street Hit or Miss: Primark 4/10

Primark autumn 15

Primark autumn 15

Primark autumn 15

Footwear specialist - Westfield Stratford, Ground floor

Pros

No one can beat Primark for on-trend product at a bargain price, and this season is no different. For autumn 15, style-savvy shoppers on a budget can battle the crowds to pick up fake suede court shoes for £10 in berry, grey and royal blue, or pay £12 for a split-heel version. A pair of suede ankle boots with fringe detail and a low heel priced at £25 may be good value, depending on how they wear. Unlike its more premium competitors Primark is pushing features such as wide-fit and adjustable-width boots, underfoot padding and an anti-slip sole.

Cons

The much smaller men’s department offers hiking-style boots at £16 and fake suede lace-ups for £12, which look as though they would only be good for a couple of wears. The department is small with stock strewn all over and there are no mirrors nearby or seating. On the women’s floor, finding the right size can be difficult and there is no one to help. The queue is three rows deep, so only the most determined bargain-hunter will make it to purchase.
