High Street Hit or Miss: Primark 7/10

Primark autumn 15

Primark autumn 15

Primark autumn 15

Value - Westfield Stratford, lower ground floor

Pros

You still can’t beat Primark for cheap clothes, like £2.50 for a basic T-shirt, although this does mean a compromise on quality. There are piles of basic T-shirts, standard denim and average knits alongside some strong pieces of good value, including a lovely grey textured Crombie coat (£40), a well-tailored cotton mac (£30) and some thick wool blazers (£35) that all have that “I can’t believe it’s from Primark” appeal. The tailoring range is the best of the value retailers by far and offers great choice. A decent slim-fit full suit is £40, and a wide choice of run-of-the-mill formal shirts range from £5 to £7.

Cons

Primark is not a pleasant shopping experience and the low prices do not excuse that. Once again, the store was a mess, with discarded clothes, hangers and rubbish everywhere. It was also very hot, which wasn’t an issue elsewhere in the shopping centre, and there was no music playing.
