High Street Hit or Miss: Reiss 7/10

Reiss autumn 15

Reiss autumn 15

Reiss autumn 15

Premium - Westfield Stratford, ground floor

Pros

Reiss has one of the nicest shopfits of all those visited, thanks to slick fixtures and high-quality materials like thick carpet, as well as luxuriant use of space, such as double-height changing rooms and a nice seating area. These provide a luxury experience. Prices are high but most feel justified thanks to the elevated fabrics, fits and finishes. Product is often classic with a contemporary element, although hero items offer something special. Examples include the classic thick pea coat (£275), an extra-soft wool Crombie (£295), a special dusty pink Crombie (£295), a belted shawl collar coat (£350) and a great double-breasted camel blazer (£275).

Cons

Although staff did acknowledge me, two sales assistants were having a loud personal conversation across one area of the store and swearing in front of customers, while another group were chatting near the till. The store looks good but some areas are getting a little shabby; there were stains on the plush carpet. An old steamer left out also looked messy.
