Mainsteam - Westfield Stratford, ground floor
Known for its shirting, TM Lewin certainly has a wide range on offer, although styles rarely stray from variations of blue or stripes. There is a vast choice of ties, though, from classic designs to more colourful and patterned options, which gives a point of difference. A good-quality quilted jacket is decent value at £99, but £199 for a thin pea coat is a little punchy.
Large signs declare a store-wide Sale and every suit is reduced to £199 or less, which is off-putting. Tailoring is all fairly standard and doesn’t compare to competitors like M&S or Next. The large walls of folded shirts do have visual impact, but there doesn’t seem to be any logic to it. When you find a style you like, you have to search for the correct size and it could be anywhere. The suit room lacks signage; there are rails of uninspiring blue suits without indication of size, fit or price. Two separate sets of staff were deep in conversation and ignored me.
