H&M like-for-like sales up 1% in January

H&M’s like-for-like sales rose 1% in January compared with the same month last year.

Total sales at the Swedish fast fashion chain rose 11%.The figures exclude currency rate changes.

H&M had a total of 1,987 stores at the end of January compared to 1,741 at the same time last year.

Last month, H&M reported its full-year results to the end of November 2009. Like-for-like sales fell 5% during the full-year the period. The retailer said that weak sales during autumn left it with high stock levels.
