H&M’s like-for-like sales dropped 4% in August due to an extreme heatwave across Europe which negatively affected sales.
Total group sales rose by 6% in August with the Swedish fast fashion giant reaping the rewards from its store expansion despite hot weather keeping shoppers at bay.
The retailer continued to add to its store portfolio. In the year to August 31 H&M opened 304 stores taking its worldwide shop count to 2,629 compared to 2,325 the year before.
In its third quarter (June 1 to August 31) sales increased by 10% to 33.57bn kronor (£3.14bn) as like-for-like sales remained stable.
