Footwear supplier Intermedium Shoes has appointed a UK agent for the first time since 2007, to try to restore the business back to the force it once was.
The Dutch-based business, which supplies women’s footwear to a number of UK high street retailers including young fashion chain Miss Selfridge, home shopping group Shop Direct and footwear retailer Dune, had a £10m annual business in the UK until 2007.
However, the recession and the decision to manage sales directly from its head office in Holland means it now turns over only about £500,000 in the UK.
Intermedium, which supplies about 20 million pairs of shoes across Europe every year, has appointed Nadene Stevenson as UK agent for autumn 12.
Stevenson, who has 20 years’ experience in footwear and has worked for Pentland Brands and footwear label London Rebel, will target new stockists as well as expanding existing accounts. Intermedium is also planning to exhibit at UK footwear trade shows.
