John Lewis reported fashion sales up 19% last week boosted by World Cup related clothing and hot weather items such as sunglasses.
The department store chain reported total weekly sales up 10.9% in the week to June 5, buoyed by trade over the bank holiday although the hot weather by the end of the week took the edge off sales.
John Lewis said World Cup stock had sold very well in sportswear and kidswear.
The retailer added that the introduction of new brands had boosted sales in women’s fashion.
Johnlewis.com was up 50% on last year, with fashion performing well.
