Department store group John Lewis reported fashion sales up 30% year on year for this week, driven by sales of footwear and accessories.
John Lewis said in a statement that its fashion sales were “helped by competitor activity which drove a halo effect onto our own-brand products”.
The department store group said footwear sales were particularly strong and jewellery had “a record week”.
Kidswear sales were also buoyant with a year-on-year increase of 40%. Sales of children’s World Cup T-shirts were particularly strong.
