John Lewis will continue to drive its womenswear offer in a more contemporary direction with the introduction of new designer collaborations for autumn 11, and is also adding interactive features to its website.
Designer knitwear label Clements Ribeiro, premium womenswear designer Tracey Boyd, womenswear designer Osman Yousefzada and high street womenswear retailer Monsoon will all create collections for John Lewis.
Meanwhile, to increase online dialogue with its customers, John Lewis will also allow personal product reviews to be posted on its website for the first time from this month. Online shoppers will be asked to rate products they have purchased and add comments.
After working with John Lewis as part of its Fashion on First collection to celebrate the launch of its new womenswear floor at its London Oxford Street store in autumn 10, Yousefzada will create a capsule collection for autumn 11.
It will be manufactured in the UK and retail prices will range from £179 for a dress to £350 for a coat.
The collection will have limited quantities of between 60 and 100 pieces per style. It will be available in four stores – Oxford Street, Peter Jones on Sloane Square, Westfield Stratford and Edinburgh, as well as online.
Design duo Clements Ribeiro will link up with John Lewis for the first time to create an exclusive 20-piece collection. The range will be based on husband-and-wife team Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro’s designer collections and will include cropped, high-necked military jackets, a selection of cashmere knits and cashmere jumper dresses. Prices will range from £85 for a V-neck sweater to £250 for a coat.
Following her spring 11 debut at John Lewis, Boyd has designed a second eveningwear collection for autumn 11 featuring a sequined shift dress and a range of embellished dresses in jewel tones. In September, Boyd’s debut lingerie range, inspired by the 1950s, will launch in John Lewis.
Another exclusive collaboration, Monsoon LOVE, will go into stores in September. Inspired by Monsoon’s signature ethnic style, the 16-piece limited-edition collection will be sold at John Lewis Oxford Street, online and at four other Monsoon branches, priced between £50 and £250.
John Lewis head of womenswear Jo Hooper said: “We’ve been moving our womenswear selection to be more contemporary in direction for the past few years.
“Customers trust John Lewis to pick what is going to work for them, so with our designer collaborations it is about saying to people ‘this is the designer you need but with the added benefit that John Lewis has picked the best selection for you’.”
