John Lewis weekly fashion sales rise 15%

Sales across the fashion lines at department store chain John Lewis rose 15% last week as shoppers bought into new autumn 10 product.

“Shops reported a real hunger from customers for all things new,” said John Lewis Region B selling operations director David Barford. “customers were keen to see the new Autumn trends and colours.”

John Lewis said fashion sales were up across all categories but added that boyswear, men’s formalwear and outerwear performed particularly well.

The retailer’s stores generated a sales rise of 7% and online sales jumped 34%.

“Overall, a splendid week’s trade - looking forward to a good back-to-school and a great bank holiday,” added Barford.
