Liverpool One set for record smashing Christmas

Regional shopping centre Liverpool One reported a spike in visitor numbers over the penultimate shopping weekend before Christmas.

More than 250,000 people visited the shopping centre over December 18 and 19, up 6.1% on the same weekend last year.

This weekend also saw a boost in figures nationally with a total of £1.75bn being spent across the country.

Miles Dunnett, head of asset management at Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, said: “We’ve had an exceptionally strong lead up to Christmas throughout November and December and this weekend has shown no sign of it slowing.”

He added: “Early figures indicate that the upcoming pre-Christmas weekend will smash previous records for footfall and we’re anticipating December footfall figures will surpass three million.”
