Marchant takes on bigger role at Tesco

Tesco has promoted UK buying director for clothing Jan Marchant to a European role and drafted in former Marks & Spencer director Bernadette Lusher to bolster its fashion team.

Marchant, who joined Tesco in 2002, becomes design director for F&F Europe. She will lead the design process for the UK and central Europe, reporting to central European clothing director Jason Tarry.

She is replaced by Lusher, previously trading director for womens-wear at Marks & Spencer, who left the retailer in January as a result of a series of changes in the clothing team made by M&S chief executive Marc Bolland. Lusher will report to clothing chief Richard Jones.
