McArthurGlen opens second German site

Designer outlet group McArthurGlen has opened the largest designer outlet in Northern Germany with 279,861 sq ft of space.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Neumünster, which opened on September 20, features 125 stores with brands such as Escada, MarcO`Polo, Strenesse, Lacoste and Desigual.

The €120m (£96m) centre is a joint venture between McArthurGlen and Henderson Global Investors. It is the 21st outlet in the chain and the second in Germany, following the opening of Designer Outlet Berlin in 2009.

Andrew Rich, fund manager at Henderson Global Investors, said: “Designer outlets have been one of the strongest performing retail sectors across Europe over the past decade and have thrived during the economic downturn across our portfolio.

“We are confident that the first class tenant line-up, coupled with the resilient nature of the outlet sector, will continue to deliver for our investors.”
