Menswear sales are shipshape for M&S

Marks & Spencer said menswear performed strongly over the 13 weeks to April 2, when underlying like-for-like sales of general merchandise, which includes clothing, nudged up 0.7%.

The retailer said its men’s Autograph polo shirt (pictured), which retails at £22, had sold more than 15,000 units. M&S also said it had increased its market share by value in men’s knitwear by 30 basis points to 12.3%. Sales of men’s cotton cashmere including V-neck and zip-neck styles increased 114% compared with the fourth quarter last year.
