Monsoon hires buying and design chief

Monsoon has appointed Shailina Parti to the new role of buying and design director.

Parti joined the mainstream womenswear chain from premium retailer Jaeger, where she was buying director for womenswear, menswear and accessories. Her departure followed the promotion of Lilian Bucke to head of buying at Jaeger in January.

Monsoon said that Parti would be responsible for strategically defining the product offer, ensuring the brand’s future collections were exciting, and continuing to grow Monsoon’s customer loyalty.

Parti’s departure from Jaeger is part of a wider shake-up at the Jaeger and Aquascutum stable, which are both owned by British Fashion Council chairman Harold Tillman.

Jaeger’s sister brand Aquascutum has hired Ebi Rezaei as global head of womenswear sales. Rezaei joins from Pringle, where he held the same title.

Last week, womenswear and menswear designers Michael Herz and Graeme Fidler announced they were leaving Aquascutum. It has been rumoured that the pair will replace Bally creative director Brian Atwood, who resigned from the luxury accessories brand last week.
