M&S appoints Next director as lingerie head

Next product director Jo Jenkins is to join Marks & Spencer as director of lingerie and beauty.

Jenkins replaces Janie Schaffer, who last month exited the retailer after just three months in the role.

Jenkins was formerly product director for womenswear Next, where she had responsibility for all buying, design and merchandising across lingerie, swimwear, nightwear, loungewear, footwear and accessories. Prior to joining Next in 1997 Jenkins worked at M&S for 12 years in various retail and buying roles.

In her new position she will report directly to John Dixon, executive director of general merchandise

Dixon said: “We are delighted to attract a talented retailer like Jo to our team. She brings with her a wealth of experience, with excellent product knowledge and great customer understanding.”

One industry source called Jenkins a “great hire”.

He added: “She really built her name at Next, especially on footwear. Lingerie was one of her areas, but her absolute forte was footwear and she’s incredible when it comes to product proposition.”
