River Island halts Scottish deliveries

Young fashion retailer River Island has become the latest company to stop deliveries in Scotland because of the severe winter weather.

Yesterday Marks & Spencer suspended delivery to Scotland and parts of Northern England due to the region experiencing a carpeting of snow. Also, earlier this week Tesco and Sainsbury’s said they would stop taking orders on their websites from customers in Scotland because of the bad weather.

A statement on the River Island website said: “Severe snow has meant that we have had to pull forward the last order date for Scotland and the Shetland Isles to Wednesday 15th December. Orders already placed for this region are taking around 7-12 days to deliver. We are making every effort to reach you.”

Other retailers including premium retailer Jaeger and UK department store chain Selfridges said they could not guarantee any deliveries to Scotland before Christmas.
