Selfridges named world’s best department store - again

Selfridges has beaten the likes of Macy’s and John Lewis to be named the best department store in the world for the third consecutive time.

The retailer, which has three stores as well as its flagship on Oxford Street, was awarded the accolade by its peers at the Global Department Store Summit in Singapore.

The award has never been won three times in a before.

Criteria for the award included strong financial performance, provision of excellent customer service and delivery of an outstanding in-store experience.Selfridges will retain the honour until 2016.

Group managing director Paul Kelly said: “This award is international recognition of the global reach of our brand. Selfridges has gone from strength to strength worldwide, and this prestigious retail award recognises the status of our brand as a successful retail innovator. Receiving this distinction for a third term is truly exciting.”
