Tailored short suits a summer hit for Debenhams

Debenhams has seen sales of shorts and matching blazers rise by 500% this year as catwalk looks transfer to the high street.

Tailored short suits were showcased at spring 11 catwalk shows from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Jean Paul Gaultier and have now been selling well at department store group Debenhams.

The most popular short at Debenhams has been the Jeff Bank light blue linen shorts and matching jacket. The outfit has been the retailers bestselling menswear product for two weeks running.

Debenhams spokesperson, Ruth Attridge said: “We have heard about the emergence of ‘mankles’ – male ankles peeking out from rolled up trousers. Well, this takes it to the next level.

“All over the world, British men are renowned for exposing their white knobbly knees during the summer holidays. We want this great tradition to continue whether you are jetsetting, staycationing or off to work”.
