Three more stores on Mistral’s agenda

Southwest womenswear chain Mistral will open three more stores before the end of the year following the launch last week of its 21st shop, in Truro, Cornwall.

The family-owned business, which sells own-brand smart casualwear, is poised to sign leases for new stores in unconfirmed towns in Suffolk and Essex. It also plans to expand its online business, which it launched last month.

Owner John Lewis said the £10m turnover business was trading well, with single-digit like-for-like growth year on year. “We would like to wholesale some product to help us move further north,” he added.

The business owns three stores under the Walton Clothing fascia, targeting the same market, but these will be rebranded as Mistral.
