UK Sole wins licence for Ruby Rocks footwear

Women’s young fashion brand Ruby Rocks is expanding into footwear for autumn 12 after agreeing a licensing deal with UK Sole.

The collection will compete with footwear labels such as Blowfish Malibu, Ted Baker and Firetrap.

UK Sole will manufacture and distribute the label and will target branded high street footwear multiples including Schuh and Office.

The range will comprise knee-high boots, ballerina-style pumps, heeled and flat sandals, as well as flip-flops for spring 13.

According to Jennifer Macdonald, managing director of Ruby Rocks, many footwear styles will feature prints used on its clothing.

“We hope many of the independent retailers that have had success with the clothing line will also be keen to stock the footwear,” added Macdonald.

Ruby Rocks, which is best known for its print dresses, was launched in 2006 and has approximately 300 stockists in the UK, including lifestyle retailer Joy, plus-size etailer Simply Be and Liverpool indie Resurrection, as well as department store Menarys, which has 20 stores across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Wholesale prices for the footwear collection will range from £6.25 for flip-flops to £50 for full-length boots, with a 2.4 retail mark-up.
