A disappointing shop with too many distractions and not enough original pieces
There are no pieces from the retailer’s Catwalk collection to draw in the crowds, which suggests this is a Next store that shoppers visit for basics, workwear and cheap watches rather than the latest trends. The few standout items include sequin-splashed T-shirts, stonewash-effect denim shirts, and sporty long-length jerseys emblazoned with black sequin motifs such as ‘Angels’ and ‘Love’. Even the workwear has taken a step back in terms of interesting twists.
This branch of Next doesn’t feel much like a clothing-focused store. The first thing to greet you on the way in is a Next Home catalogue and almost every space not filled with clothes is stacked high with perfumes, body lotions, watches, flower vases and various other add-on paraphernalia.
A sequined motif jersey sweater is a sound £25 while a denim shirt at £20 is competitive. Jewel-encrusted T-shirts are good value at £25, while plain black leggings at just £8 are a great option if you don’t want to venture into hoards of teenagers in New Look or H&M. Suiting ranges from £55 to £70, and a pair of buttoned ankle jeggings are excellent at £18.
