An easy-to-browse store set over two floors takes advantage of spring 10’s girlish trends
Oasis plumps for an ultra-feminine/utility vibe for spring 10, with lots of bubblegum pink and watermelon hues, white bow-motif knits and polka-dot puff-shoulder jersey dresses juxtaposed with khaki cargo playsuits and plaid shirt dresses. Leather is surprisingly scarce on the young fashion rails but Oasis has it in both waterfall and bomber-style jackets. An interesting nautical interpretation is a sequin anchor motif on a navy-and-red striped knit.
Plenty of accessories dotted around the store make outfit-building easy, while a clear split between the floors - current season product on the ground floor and beach, night and swim wear upstairs - adds ease to the browsing experience. The sculpted wooden bag-holder trees look great with pastel-hued spring holdalls and totes hanging from them.
Skinny jeans for £45 are slightly more than at River Island, but when Drapers visited a £10-off weekend discount meant Oasis edged out its rival, albeit temporarily. Polka-dot jersey dresses at £38 are OK for a plain print while a 1980s-inspired oversized cotton vest is fine at £10. A plaid tie-shirt dress with studded shoulders just about gets away with its £45 tag.
