Office, 5-6 Cranbourne Street

A stellar women’s footwear offer and a great in-store vibe.

Looks 8½

Office excels with its offer this season. Leopard-print Chelsea boots, platform brothel creepers and webbed peep-toe wedges all reflect the on-trend, fun product that Office is known for. Jade green and gold brogues are best in class, while ballet flats with padded heart motifs and military boots with tough studding also stand out. Men’s styles are more staid and a black patent winklepicker looks out of date. Men’s brogues and a lace-up toe-cap boot are the pick of the male offer.

Experience 8

This has to be one of Office’s smallest but hardest-working stores. It has a lively, indie feel, reminiscent of early Office stores, and feels buzzy rather than cramped. The iPod belonging to a member of staff plays cool music and sales assistants all look the part, and are helpful and knowledgeable. But the men’s area needs a dose of energy to liven it up. Against the bright and colourful nature of women’s product, the men’s offer feels quite basic.

Value 8

Trend-led boots come in at about £60, which are good value. Some flats are too pricey at £60, but overall pricing is solid. Military boots with tough details like straps and studs creep up to £90,while good quality, heavy two-tone loafers come in at £65. Coloured brogues are just £62. Men’s brogues are £66.99 and a tan lace-up toe-cap boot is a steal at £91.99. Poste loafers with a slight patina are £99.99, and Converse trainers are priced at £54.99.
