This great store ticks the right trend boxes with its own unique take on spring 11 essentials.
River Island comes second only to Topshop in the trend stakes for the younger shopper, delivering a strong spring 11 collection peppered with its distinctive handwriting. A gorgeous flared orange skirt covers both the silhouette and colour trend for the season, while cute denim dungarees offer a bolder interpretation of the denim trend. 1970s-inspired batwing sleeves are bigger here than anywhere else, lace dresses look good and there are great maxi dresses and skirts to choose from.
River Island’s signature interior is evident, with different wallpaper or brickwork used for each trend or story. The changing rooms are super-cool, with doors resembling real front doors. The store manages to be well-segmented, tidy and buzzing. Staff were on hand to help too.
River Island beats Topshop on price, with few items topping £50. Tunics start from £24.99, maxi skirts from £34.99 and the flared orange skirt is great value at £29.99. High-waisted, wide-leg jeans are £44.99, while other jeans come in at £39.99. T-shirts are £9.99 and vests £6.99.
