Looks 8

Structured one-shoulder dresses, oversized peplums, cocoon-shaped skirts and shiny satins in shades of lime, banana and raspberry stand out this season at River Island. Anchor-motifs on basics, Aztec-prints on tops and large blooms all points to the nautical, boho and floral trends respectively. There are also an abundance of leggings on offer, from basic styles to shiny purple options.

Mix 7

Trend-led product, including architectural pieces and satin-sheen items, mingle with basics, denim and daywear, taking up the front half of the store. Workwear and the boho trend cover a quarter of the space, while accessories and footwear make up the back quarter of the shopfloor.

Store 8

This is a great store: well-laid out, with helpful and attentive staff despite its size. The changing rooms are great; the doors to each cubicle resembles real front doors with numbers on the front, there are large framed mirrors and cool, floral wallpaper. Trends and product categories are clearly represented.

Value 8

Basics are good value, with vests starting at £6.99 and leggings at £19.99. An embroidered, Aztec-print top is also well-priced at £24.99, while a one-shoulder yellow dress with exposed zip stands out at £39.99. Dresses are reasonably priced throughout the range; a draped, lime green dress with volume on the hips is great at £34.99. Jeans start at £39.99 and a cocoon pencil skirt is good value at £29.99.
