A quirky take on trends in an inspirational store puts River Island in top spot for young fashion.
River Island’s signature look of pairing directional pieces with vintage glamour gives it a distinctive aesthetic. Lace shrugs, one-shouldered satiny jumpsuits, Grecian drape-fronted dresses and Vivienne Westwood-inspired structured and folded shifts all offer a different yet bang-on trend look. Even simple pieces are given a girlish, glam twist, such as a leopard-print dress with a gold- sequined bow.
River Island knows its customers enjoy quirky design, so the retailer’s sponsorship of Graduate Fashion Week has been tapped into through collaborations between River Island and the winning students, resulting in pieces which can’t be found elsewhere on the high street. Shoppers will also love the mannequins, which are styled with bowler hats and loads of sparkly, shabby-chic layers.
A grey military denim waistcoat beats Miss Selfridge’s version by a tenner at £30, while micro-print chiffon waistcoats dotted with sequins also come in at £30. A glossy jumpsuit with knotted gold string belt at £45 and a silver sequin tunic dress at the same price suggest the chain might have got slightly more competitive with its pricing this season. A simple grey and black panelled dress has jewelled embellishment on the front, which at just £50 will delight customers.
